10 questions about Narcan

Before even opening this article, I have to take issue with the statement that OTC status for narcan/naloxone will mean increased availability. In fact, i'm afraid that the narrative of increased availability will actually mean decreased donations to harm reduction programs which provide free narcan/naloxone to individuals who use drugs and the people who love them. OTC narcan will very likely be more expensive than free, meaniing that the individuals who need access to it most will still not have that access. This access issue coupled with the likelihood of decreased donations will actually mean less access to narcan, and less harm reduction funding from private sources, which is ultimately very neessary for programs' continuted ability to provide services due to state and federal regulations on grant fund spending. Items such as syringes (needed for generic naloxone which is in vial-form and MUCH chearper than nasal, among other benefits, but requires a hypodermic needle for intramuscular administration).

But, I'm off to read the article now and maybe I'll be back here to eat crow as this may all be addressed within.
