CAB Meeting Series: Protective Factors for Rural Communities (Prevention)
This is the third meeting organized by the University of Illinois for the year 2020-2021. Dr. Douglas Smith will be our guest speaker and talk about substance use prevention. The title of his presentation is “What is the State of the Art in Preventing Substance Use among Rural Teens?”

About the Event
Douglas C. Smith Ph.D., LCSW is Professor of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he directs the Center for Prevention Research and Development (CPRD). He received his Ph.D. in Social Work in 2006 from the University of Iowa. He has over 25 years of experience in substance use disorder prevention and treatment as a clinician, clinical supervisor and researcher. His research focuses on improving prevention and treatment for adolescents and young adults at risk for or suffering from substance use disorders.
